Growing up my grandmother Gloria had a beautiful pink antique chair in the corner of her living room. As a child, the chair’s beauty made it like a piece of art, not furniture. Later in life, I took the chair around Austin for a school project and photographed it around various areas in the city.
Five years later, Austin has changed drastically and what I love about bringing this series back is being able to see that change. Many of the places I set the chair in to shoot, no longer exist. These areas have all been developed and are somewhat unrecognizable from what’s seen in the photo. The only thing that remains constant is the chair; classy and beautiful, just like its namesake.
This collection was on exhibit at the Bass Concert Hall in Austin from September 2015 to January 2016.
